This coast has been a favourite area for tourists for many years from all over Europe and Spain.

The Costa Blanca "white coast" is situated between the two other well known areas of Costa Brava to the north and Costa del Sol in the south, and is within the region of Valencia with the warm Mediteranean on its shores.

The magnificent city of Alicante with its international airport, railway station and motorway access is perfectly placed for the visitor travelling to the north Costa Blanca resorts of Denia, Javea, Benidorm or south to the more residential areas surrounding Torrevieja. The motorway network connects France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and the rest of Europe. The modern high speed train service from Alicante can also take you to all these destinations.


The Costa Blanca coast, protected by the Crevillente mountains to the west and  with the warm Meditarranean sea on its eastern shores gives the Costa Blanca a perfect winter climate and produces excellent conditions for its agriculture which includes not only our world famous Valencian oranges and lemons, but also salad items, artichokes, asparagus and many fruits such as peaches, nectarines, kiwi and many many more.

The south Costa Blanca is also famous throughout Spain for seafood and fish, landed daily at the local ports of Torrevieja, Santa Pola and many others along the coast.

Before reaching Torrevieja is the old town of Guardamar. The beach here is 17 Km long with soft sandy dunes running down to the sea. A few minutes more and you are in beautiful ............

Torrevieja translated is "old" or "ancient tower" which is to be found on the north side of the town overlooking the sea, originally a moorish defence and recently restored with gardens laid around, it is now a popular place for wedding couples to be photographed with the blue Mediterranean as a backdrop.

This is the area where Spanish people take their holidays, and many buy a second home. This really is the healthiest place in the world to live (according to the health organization). The two natural salt lakes are very beneficial for those people with chest problems, arthritis, rheumatism etc.

The wonderfull winter climate with lowest average temperature of 17°C to together with 320 days sunshine each year combined with the famous Mediterranean diet of fresh meat, fish, vegetable, fruit and even a glass of delicious local wine, go towards making a healthier lifestyle a reality.

People from northern Europe who have made this their full or part time home will tell you "there are not enough hours in a day", there is so much to do, you will never be bored, sport for all ages with four golf courses, four bowls clubs, several fully equipped gym clubs, plus sailing, scuba diving, football, darts, tennis and nightlife into the small hours.

The beaches carry the European blue flag, ensuring pollution free bathing. Walking is a delight either along the long sandy beaches or around the conservation area surrounding the salt lakes. Maybe you prefer to relax with a glass of wine and some tapas outside one of the hundreds of bars and restaurants. Torrevieja boasts one of the largest street markets in Spain and every friday people come from miles around to pick up a bargain or to buy fruit and vegetables fresh from the farm.

Each evening, close to the port you will find the craft market where you can buy hand made jewellery or maybe some carved art from Africa or even some leather goods at a fraction of the price at home. The indoor market is open daily for fish, fruit, vegetable and fresh meat and is situated in the centre of town.
